Glory Story:  Appalachia  Mexico  Navajoland

All the preparation for 18 home-grown Maple Grover’s to travel to Mexico and share about a love that can only come from our Father in heaven was awesome. But now that I think back about our week, February 23rd – March 2, 2007 it was the ultimate walk across the room for us. Our nightly devotions were taken from a book by Bill Hybels Called, “Just a Walk across the Room”.

As we chose to live by faith instead of by sight, this walk we took extended ourselves by showing God’s love to others. We are called to be in the very Nature of God, surrounded by his love and mercy as we traveled safely to Mexico and Ministered, but we were also ministered to by the people in San Vincente. My prayer every morning went something like this.

Lord, thank you for waking me this morning my life is in your hands. Use me today to point some one towards you, I promise to cooperate in anyway I can. If you want me to say a Word for you Lord I will do it but if you want me to be quiet and just show your love by your power I will. I am fully, totally available to you today so guide me by your Spirit. Amen.

We arrived Sunday afternoon greeted warmly by Dave and Lynn, got oriented to the house and we were off to church for Sunday evening service. Language was a small barrier but the love of God bridges all gaps. The Holy Spirit was evident and felt by everyone, and when we returned to the house for our first night of reflection and challenge His love was lifted up through our music, devotion and sharing.
Monday we started with morning devotions, and we had fellowship during breakfast and broke up for quiet time to prepare for our day. Our different work projects were to work (paint) the parsonage and do sewing with the ladies and crafts with children and Pastor Jose at the church, and also some plumbing work at the house along with some carpentry work at a building purchased for ministry work in town.

Every morning we had devotions given by different members of our team and evening devotions were reflection and time to worship.
Tuesday and Wednesday we orchestrated a Health Fair at two different work camps. Checking blood pressures, doing glucose checks along with nutritional training and eye exam with available eye glasses for reading purposes only. Games were played with the children and a hat and oral care kit were given to everyone who participated in the Health Fair.

We were all very touched by our experiences, Pastor Dwayne, Karen and Pastor Jose were called to pray and anoint a newborn baby on Tuesday that was born with several deformities in the camp. It is hard to put on paper the journey my heart traveled that week in Mexico, but like my prayer said, “Use Me to point some one towards you Lord..” and his blessing just flowed over us all.

In closing, pray that we would be willing to pay the price of time and energy, remembering the price Christ paid for us all and the peace of Philippians 4:7, peace that goes beyond human understanding, would flood you spirit.

Pray that you would be open to being used in NEW and DIFFERENT WAYS to lead people to faith in him and that other Christ-followers would play the role they are supposed to play in people’s lives. Pray that hearts would melt, people would be changed and heaven-bound eternities would be secured.

I have devoted myself to be a Walk-across the-room kind of person, Will You?

God Blessing to You!
