Medical Teams

As an extension of the ministry of Compañeros en Misiõn in Tijuana, Mexico, medical teams have begun administering much needed health care to those living in Tijuana neighborhoods. We are working with physicians who have already donated many medical supplies as well as equipment. We have felt God’s affirmation of this ministry. We recently were provided with a location to base our health care outreach and to store supplies. Again, this is about building relationships, and our intent is to connect with the people of Tijuana, helping to facilitate their own health care, and to build relationships with the medical community as well.
If you are interested in participating in this ministry, or would like to take a medical team, or know of others who would be interested in doing so, please contact our Medical Director, Dr. Jennifer Bunch at 765-282-6151, or via e-mail at cjbunch1@gmail.com or Dr. Jennifer Wilson at 765-717-0471 or e-mail at companerosenministerio@yahoo.com.

We are excited about the possibility of partnering with you in this ministry!

                    December 1-9, 2007

We had 15 individuals travel to Tijuana on December 1-9 for a medical and costruction encounter. This trip was comprised mainly of people who had not done an encounter before with CeM. Though we came from different towns and backgrounds, we very quickly bonded as a team.

The medical team saw patients at different clinic sites each day. During the course of the week we saw and treated over 400 patients. We saw a variety of patients ranging from well child exams to sick visits and various injuries. We were able to provide treatment to many individuals who otherwise would have done without. In addition, many individuals wanted to have their children examined by American doctors to reassure them that they were healthy. In addition to medical care, each family that saw the doctor also received a health kit, school kit and a toy for the children. It was neat to see the smile on the children's faces to receive a toy so close to Christmas.

The construction team worked on a variety of projects during the week. Their work included putting windws in the addition built by the November team, drainage at the Ministry Mall and repairing a roof damaged by the Santa Ana winds.

One of the highlights of the week was the worship service on Wednesday with the people on the New Millennium. We had met a guy who did music at his church earlier in the week. He and his friends graciously agreed to help us for the service. We had prepared a few songs in Spanish; however, the kids did not know the songs we did and vice versa, but it all worked out. Despite the language barrier, the love of Christ allowed us to communicate. Following the service we also did pinatas with the kids. It is always a joy to see the children get very excited about this activity and see how quickly they can scurry to get candy.
